Portrait of a Coward
Ehren Watada has suddenly become a "conscientious objector." He is the first commissioned officer to refuse deployment to Iraq. He is a disgrace to the US Army and the new poster-child for the anti-American far left.

Watada faces a February 5 courts martial and up to six years in prison upon his conviction. It seems that he has decided that the war against terror is illegal. It was okay, until he actually had to perform his duty after receiving all of the benefits afforded to him by the US government at taxpayer expense. He'd rather hide in a protected prison cell for six years than do his duty.

Watada says that there are no ties to al-Qaeda in Iraq. That's probably news to the terrorist group "al-Qaeda in Iraq." Watada says that he enlisted because "like many Americans, (I) believed the administration when they said the threat from Iraq was imminent - that there were weapons of mass destruction all throughout Iraq; that there were stockpiles of it." That implies that he believes that they never existed. There are thousands of dead Kurds that know otherwise. Not only that, but it wasn't just the Bush administration saying it. It was the UN, the Clinton administration and every politician no matter their ideology. The simple fact that Watada and the rest of the liberals can't seem to understand or want to conceal is that they were moved.

No, let's be clear. Watada has not had some sort of ideological awakening. He does not possess knowledge that others do not have. He is simply a coward. Today's US military is an all-volunteer force. The military will not accept conscientious objectors. If after three years he somehow decided to change his viewpoint, he should fulfill his commitment and then leave the service.

Like most liberals, Watada doesn't want you to know he's a liberal. Even worse, he hides while wearing a US Army uniform. If you doubt that Watada is a leftist, he even hides his web site within a leftist web site. He advertises "ThankYouLt.org," but it is really a sub-domain of RadicalDesigns.org. RadicalDesigns.org is a front for a leftist Bay Area web design group. They want you to think Watada's web site is some grassroots organized protest. Watada's defense is based on US Constitutional amendments that do not apply to him. Our military follows the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). Watada broke his oath, broke his commitment and disobeyed a lawful order.

Ehren Watada is not a hero. He is not an individualist. He is not a conscientious objector. Ehren Watatda is a liberal coward. He is a disgrace to America. Shame on you Ehren Watatda. Shame on you. A possible six year sentence in prison and a definite life sentence of being a coward. Watada, you have no honor and you are a disgrace to those that do.
