Another "Private"
Matter
After
being caught in an investigation of organized crime and prostitution, now former
democrat Governor Eliot Spitzer's first statement said it was a "private
matter." This was reminiscent of Bill Clinton's excuse that it was his private
life. Like Bill Clinton, Spitzer's transgressions are anything but a private matter
or his private life.
Like Bill Clinton, who was governor of Arkansas, Spitzer
used state troopers to enable his trysts with women. About the only difference
between Bill Clinton and Spitzer is that Spitzer paid for sex. Bill simply used
his "charm" and when that didn't work he would sexually harass and even
be accused of rape. Also like Bill Clinton, Spitzer's wife has stood by him, like
every dopey liberal wife does. Now Hillary doesn't understand why most people
don't take her seriously.
Some liberals tried to rationalize that it was
a "victimless crime," that prostitution should be legal and, of course,
it was his private life. Those in political power, including his fellow democrats,
knew it was far more serious than simply a man seeing a prostitute.
In New
York, "Johns" (clients of prostitutes) are rarely prosecuted. However,
Spitzer used to be a "tough on crime" prosecutor who had locked up people
involved in prostitution rings. So, even the liberals couldn't hide the hypocrisy
by simply calling it a private matter or that it was a victimless crime.
It
appears that Spitzer used taxpayer money for using state troopers in his escapades.
Also, this went on for at least four years, with Spitzer paying thousands of dollars
for the services of prostitutes. Spitzer is a wealthy heir of his father's half
billion dollar estate. So, we'll have to wait to see whether he at least used
his own money for the girls servicing him. Also, it appears that the prostitution
was carried out across state lines, making his crimes a more serious federal case.
Spitzer
already had abused his powers by having state troopers compile embarrassing information
on his Republican rival, Sen. Joseph Bruno. Ironically, Bruno is now the state's
Lieutenant Governor due to Spitzer's resignation.
Unlike Bill Clinton, Spitzer
resigned. His wife, Silda and his closest advisors had urged him not to resign.
Spitzer had immediately decided to resign, but was delayed by his wife and aides.
No, Bill Clinton had to be impeached and lose his license to practice law after
being found guilty of perjury in the sexual harassment lawsuit for which he was
the defendant. Fortunately, Spitzer had some dignity, unlike the hillbillies from
Arkansas.
On an all too familiar side note, the liberal media failed to
mention that Spitzer was a democrat or if they did, it was buried in the back
of the story.
It seems that Silda and Spitzer's advisors knew that they
would be out of power and their only chance was to have Spitzer hang onto the
governorship. It seems that Spitzer, like Bill Clinton, had been surrounded by
whores both in the governor's office as well as at home. So much for a "private
matter."
