Has Rangel lost his mind? Liberal democrat Charles Rangel (NY) has called for a reinstatement of the draft. That's right, he wants all Americans to be DRAFTED into the US armed forces when they reach the age of 18. True to liberal form it isn't patriotism driving his lunacy. It's because he and the rest of his liberal friends are now spineless cowards. Well, to be fair, Rangel did serve in the Korean war with honor.

If you recall, in 2004 John Kerry claimed that Bush would reinstate the draft, if he was reelected. That didn't happen, so Rangel is doing his best to fulfill that prophecy.

This is not the first time Rangel has tried this. He proposed it in 2003 and earlier this year as well. As Republicans controlled congress, his stupid idea went nowhere. However, this coming January, Rangel's party will be in control. That is when he intends to introduce his legislation again.

So, let's explore his "logic." He thinks that if we draft our citizens aged 18 to 42 (yes, 42!) and forced them to enter the armed forces, we won't go to war. At the same time, he argues that we need to increase the troop levels in Iraq. So which is Rangel, cut and run or stay the course on the war on terror? True to liberal form, he just wants to spread misery and take away the American citizen's right to choose. His classic liberal tactic is to drive a wedge between the citizens and the US military which defends this great nation.

The fact is that a Republican ended the draft some 30 years ago. His name? President Richard Nixon. He also ended the war in Vietnam. In case some of our young citizens didn't get this in their history class, the Vietnam War was the South East Asian conflict that the democrats brought us. Since then, the democrats have cheered for every US military defeat. Somehow, they think it makes them look better for their defeat in the Vietnam War.

With an all-volunteer military, the liberals have no one in the military that supports their stupid causes and failed foreign policies. If they could force a good portion of the citizens into the armed services, that would allow the left to infiltrate the military with their cowards and distain of the military. Currently, about 50% cannot meet the entry standards for the US military. A draft would lower the entry standards.

You see, as much as the American people don't like war, they understand that at times it is necessary. When those times arise, who would you want defending America, a bunch of liberal malcontents and those unqualified or dedicated, educated patriots?

This will backfire on the democrats. They won't be able to override the president's veto. They will then all be on record for trying to start a draft that they demanded to be stopped over 30 years ago. Also, if you'll recall, Bill Clinton dodged the draft. So, no democrat politicians' children will ever be drafted. That's the liberals' other trademark, hypocrisy.
