Obama's "Policy of the Moment" Alienating His Base
Obama alienates his baseAs Obama struggles to get back to his rock star status, his internal polls show that he is losing the race for the White House. While saying that "polls don't matter," polls are the only thing that drives the Obama "policy of the moment." Obama is not a leader. He, like Bill Clinton, simply followed the latest polling data.

Columbia University held a forum where the two candidates, McCain and Obama, were asked questions separately. Obama is afraid to face McCain in a town hall type of debate. Each was on the stage separately and McCain went first. If you recall, a similar forum was held at the Saddleback Church in Orange County, California and Obama went first. This time at Columbia, Obama couldn't claim that McCain cheated.

It was quite evident from Obama's answers that he mirrored McCain's answers. Was Obama cheating? In any event, Obama was dishonest in his answers and they are answers that are going to come back and haunt him as they will require an explanation to his political base, the far-left lunatics.

Most telling was his answer regarding the ROTC on campus. Columbia had ousted the ROTC. Surprisingly, Obama said that he thought the ROTC should be on campus. This contradicts his previous stands as well as his distain for the military. No doubt Code Pink and the other leftist radicals that support Obama are stunned.

They may believe that these are just lies that Obama must tell to get elected. Afterwards, he can then apply his true anti-American agenda. However, leftist zealots are not rational people. They believe in "the cause." They want Obama to state their objectives on a national forum. Like Cindy Sheehan, they are in for a disappointment.

Sheehan left the democrat party and tried to lead a revolt after the 2006 elections. The democrats took over congress, but Bush out-maneuvered them and moved forward with his own military plans in Iraq. The Surge worked. Even Obama had to finally admit it to Bill O'Reilly. Of course, Obama knew he was in front of a conservative audience during that interview and he was playing to them. Yet, that interview and excerpts from it played to the world. He had just alienated his base.

Obama showed his stupidity in this forum, again, with one of his verbose answers. He was asked how he would keep America's military talent in the service, such as the officers from West Point that are leaving the Army in record numbers. Obama started his typical long-winded answers that praised the military. However, he ended up answering the question by speaking of his grandfather.

Obama said that his grandfather had the incentive of the GI Bill to pay for college after he left the service. Obama thought that we needed something like that. Apparently, Obama had forgotten the premise to the question during his lengthy rambling answer. Hello, Obama, West Point graduates don't need a college education. They already have one. Also, the military already offers generous plans that will allow those that enlist to get a college education.

Later, he was asked if the government should give benefits to those that serve our country in a non-military way. Again, Obama blew the answer. He said if they are in a dangerous area serving our country such as in rebuilding Afghanistan. Hey, Obama, get a clue. Those people in the private sector rebuilding Afghanistan are American contractors. They are getting paid. They don't need government entitlement programs.

Much of the audience in attendance was lost in Obama's way of speaking rather than in what he said. Obama's lengthy answers save him from the lack of substance in them. If it sounds good, his liberal supporters continue to applaud.

So, here we have another typical liberal that is willing to lie about his core values, or lack of them, in order to get elected. The problem with being deceptive is that Obama, if elected, will claim a mandate on his liberal views. He will then be shocked at the revolt sure to follow, if he should try to implement them.

Near the end, Obama was asked if he regretted belittling Governor Palin as a small-town mayor. Obama started out by sounding like he was going to praise or at least offer some respect to Palin. However, the real Obama shined as he said that mayors are important because they make sure potholes are fixed and that the trash gets picked up. The audience, who had been applauding, was silent. Obama just doesn't get it. He just alienated the conservatives that he spent the entire forum courting.

Obama realizes that the vast majority of the American public labels itself as conservative. So, why should he care, if he alienates half his base to get a chunk of McCain's base? It's just his nature that he had to take another parting shot at Palin. Make no mistake, Obama fears her. Sarah Palin is in his way. Obama and his thugs are doing everything they can to not level the playing field that is already tilted their way, but to remove any and all opposition. Obama, the general elections are not Chicago. To us, you're nothing but a cheap hood.
