No Hurricanes...Again!
Last
year, we told you how the experts had predicted massive hurricanes for the hurricane
season following Katrina. They said it was due to global warming. They said that
the ocean waters were warmer than ever and that is what made Katrina so powerful.
So, they forecasted that there would not only be more hurricanes, but that they
would be more severe than ever.
That year, 2006, there wasn't one hurricane
that hit land and the few that materialized were barely above a tropical storm.
Well,
according to the same "experts," global warming had worsened and that
the next year, 2007, the hurricanes would return with a vegeance. One such expert,
respected and quoted by the global warming cultists, is Dr. William Gray. He predicted
that there would be 17 storms and that 9 of them would be major hurricanes in
2007.
Another strike out. Not one. Zip, zilch, nada, nothing, none. No hurricanes.
This
is not to say that there will never be another major hurricane to hit the US mainland.
However, anyone with an ounce of common sense would see that global warming is
a farce.
One
such person has taken it upon himself to sue Dr. Gray for his bogus predictions
of doom and gloom. It's hotel mogul Harris Rosen. Rosen says he has lost billions
of dollars in tourist revenue. He cites guest surveys in which 70% said they were
not returning to Florida resorts because they were afraid of the predicted hurricanes.
Rosen
said, "Look, doctor, you've made these forecasts and you were wrong once.
You made the forecast and you were wrong twice. Are you going to continue to make
these forecasts?"
Another Florida business man, John smith who owns
Storm Stoppers, spent a fortune on supplies due to Dr. Gray's predictions based
on global warming nonsense. Smith said, "What we do is stock up. When there
is a let down, we have all of our capital invested in materials and you know,
we have to wait until the next big weather event."
The global warming/hurricane
expert Dr Gray responded as if he were now an expert on tourism and psychology
saying that any time there is a catastrophic hurricane season, tourism lets up.
Really, Dr. Gray? Maybe it's alarmists like you touting yourself as an expert
and holding court with the media that is frightening people to stay home.
The
inconvenient truth is that people such as Dr. Gray and Al Gore have a political
agenda. Hurricane season is a natural occurrence. The long-term average has been
10 tropical storms with 6 being hurricanes. They decided to play the odds to further
their political agenda assuming that there would be at least one major hurricane
that they could blame on global warming.
Dr. Gray is now backpedaling. He
only predicts 13 storms for 2008 with only 7 to become hurricanes. Oh, really?
Dr. Gray, does that mean that your precious global warming is over or just your
career?
