Al Gore's Kiss of Death
TLG
received an email purportedly from Al Gore. He states that this evening, at 8:30
pm (EDT) he will announce his support for Barrack Obama. This should come as good
news/bad news for Obama.
Obviously, Gore endorsed himself for his run for
president and lost. Gore endorsed Howard Dean and Dean imploded. The next time
around he endorsed Kerry and Kerry lost. An Al Gore endorsement is known as the
political kiss of death.
Gore is best known for things such as, lying about
his role in Vietnam, claiming that he took the initiative in creating the internet,
accepting illegal campaign contributions, illegally soliciting for campaign contributions
from the White House and, of course, his science fiction movie An Inconvenient
Truth and no-longer coveted Nobel Peace Prize. Let's not forget his wife Tipper
trying to censor album lyrics in the '80's.
Yes, Al Gore is a legend in
his own mind.
What is more interesting about Al Gore announcing his endorsement
for Obama is his failure to endorse Hillary during the primary campaign. After
all, Gore rode Bill Clinton's political coattails for years.
Well, Al Gore
lost to George Bush not because of Florida, but simply because he couldn't carry
his own state of Tennessee. Now, he's going to "help" Obama.
