It's Amnesty, Not Immigration. They are Illegal, Not "Undocumented"
Bush is wrong on this. The democrats would love to have 12 million new constituents. Currently, it is estimated that there are some 12 million illegal aliens in the US. They abuse the system and afforded rights beyond what legitimate citizens are afforded.
They get free medical care in US emergency rooms, which are closing at an alarming pace. This is due to illegal aliens, mainly from Mexico, going to the emergency room for everything from having their babies to treat their colds. They have no insurance and therefore the hospital gets no money for the services rendered. In the meantime, the US citizens' taxes go higher to pay for the illegals that clog our emergency rooms.
Banks, such as Bank of America, are even giving illegal immigrants accounts. When was the last time you were able to open an account at your bank without a driver license and social security number? Guess who pays for the debt when the illegal alien decides to bounce a check or not pay a credit debt? You, the legal citizen, that's who!
While Bush's goal is to get these illegals into the system to pay their fair share is a noble one, the current immigration bill in front of congress will not accomplish that. Thanks to citizens uniting against the bill, it was defeated. However, it's now returned and it's still ugly.
Here are some of the provisions of the bill they are trying to pass:
