A Holy Tongue Lashing
This past weekend, Nancy Pelosi flew her private jet, the one that outclasses
almost every private corporate jet in America and is paid for by taxpayers, to
Italy. The San Francisco democrat had important business there; or maybe it was
just a Valentine's Day date like Obama taking Air Force One to Chicago for a Valentine's
Day dinner date with Michelle. In any case, Pelosi rushed the House democrats
into passing the spending bill so she could get away.
While in Italy, Pelosi
went to the Vatican to meet the Pope. Pelosi, who was hoping for a photo opportunity,
was disappointed when the Pope would not allow any pictures to be taken of their
meeting. She was then humiliated when she received a Holy admonishment from the
head of the Catholic Church.
Last August, TLG reported on Pelosi, an "ardent"
supporter of abortion, trying to spin church doctrine. She said, "I would
say that as an ardent, practicing Catholic, this is an issue that I have studied
for a long time. And what I know is, over the centuries, the doctors of the church
have not been able to make that definition." The Catholic Church has maintained
for almost two thousand years that life begins at conception and has been anti-abortion
the entire time.
Pelosi said of her meeting with the Pope, "It is with
great joy that my husband, Paul, and I met with his Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI
today. In our conversation, I had the opportunity to praise the Church's leadership
in fighting poverty, hunger and global warming, as well as the Holy Father's dedication
to religious freedom and his upcoming trip and message to Israel. I was proud
to show his Holiness a photograph of my family's papal visit in the 1950s, as
well as a recent picture of our children and grandchildren."
She left out
the most important part. The Vatican reported moments after the meeting, "His
Holiness took the opportunity to speak of the requirements of the natural moral
law and the Church's consistent teaching on the dignity of human life from conception
to natural death which enjoins all Catholics, and especially legislators,
jurists and those responsible for the common good of society, to work in cooperation
with all men and women of good will in creating a just system of laws capable
of protecting human life at all stages of its development."
This was a
polite way of saying that Pelosi was scolded and humiliated for her arrogance,
ignorance and stupidity. However, that being said, Pelosi is a wonderful representative
of the Bay Area's population.
