Spineless Gunboat Diplomacy
Earlier
this week the USS Impeccable was harassed by some Communist Chinese boats while
it was in international waters in the China Sea. Communist China claims all of
the China Sea as its own. They call it an "exclusive economic zone."
The
USS Impeccable's stated mission is an unarmed mapping ship manned by civilians.
They are supposedly mapping the sea bottom. We all know it's a spy ship. So what?
China has their spy ships off the US coast as well.
The boats that harassed
the USS Impeccable were hardly a threat and the USS Impeccable was able to deter
them with fire hoses. The US lodged a formal protest and the Chinese told the
US to get out of the China Sea.
In steps the spineless Obama. Like everything
else, Obama has no clue as to what he is doing. He has dispatched a destroyer
to escort the USS Impeccable. This is a visible act of aggression that is out
of proportion with what the Chinese have done. It is nothing more than gunboat
diplomacy.
The China Sea is a relatively small area. What will Obama do when
the Chinese ramp up their defense of what they consider to be their territory?
What will be his response should the Chinese attack and sink the destroyer? Nothing.
He is a fool and will soon make it evident to his communist brethren.
Unlike
George W Bush, Obama is spineless and has shown it with his overreaction. Obama
is unprepared to back up his bullying and the Chinese know it. Besides, Obama
needs the Chinese to keep buying his bad debt he's creating. In other words, Obama
forgets that he is owned by the Chinese.
This small incident could expand into
an embarrassing dilemma. The way he should have handled it was behind closed doors.
Better to quietly send a submarine to defend the Impeccable than to insult the
Chinese with a very visible destroyer.
