Family Backlash
MoveOn.org Ad in New York TimesOn September 15, TLG gave it's opinion of the family discount the New York Times giving the democrat run MoveOn.org a steep discount for a full-page ad. Our opinion ended with this:

"Now, we can expect that opposing viewpoints will ask for the same discount and the dopey NYT will have no legal choice other than to comply. Liberals shooting themselves in the foot, again. You have to love it!"

That is exactly what has happened. Today, the New York Times published a column by Times Public Editor Clark Hoyt entitled, "Betraying Its Own Best Interests."

Hoyt says that the liberal democrat-run web site received a "stand-by" rate. He said it should not have been guaranteed to run on the day MoveOn.org had requested, which was the very day of General Petraeus' report to congress.

Now, does this mean the New York Times is asking for forgiveness? Maybe, but a more New York Times-like explanation is that another conservative group has bought a full-page ad at the "stand-by" rate attacking Columbia University for inviting the Iranian terrorist Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to spew his hate and lies. The conservatives placing the ad hope that it will run on the day of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's visit, but they have been told by the New York Times that this is not guaranteed. Hmmm....

So, the NYT may be announcing their "mistake" to keep conservative ads from running as scheduled. Interestingly, the publisher of the NYT, Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., has distanced himself from the scandal by stating that he was unaware of the MoveOn.org ad ahead of time.

Backlash from the American population has been apparent. So much so that the democrat controlled senate passed a resolution denouncing the ad by MoveOn.org. However, all of the democrats that are running for president voted against the resolution.

Hillary and Obama are depending on the wacko left of MoveOn.org's base to pay their way to the White House. TLG believes that the American people will have a better idea come November 2008.
