Liberals' Attempt to
Kill the Second Amendment Shot Down
This
morning, the US Supreme Court affirmed the Second
Amendment as a right of the individual to self defense. It struck down the
Washington D.C. gun ban in the now historic case of District of Columbia v. Heller
by a vote of 5-4.
What started all of this was a Washington D. C. security
guard named Dick Heller. On the job, he was licensed to carry a firearm. He applied
for a permit to keep one at his home for self defense. His application was denied
under D.C.'s. ban on firearms since 1976. In 2003, Heller sued.
The D.C.
circuit court sided with Heller in a 2-1 decision. They stated that Heller had
the right, an individual's right, to have a gun and keep it at home, unlocked,
if he chooses.
D.C. appealed to the US Supreme Court. D.C. argued, as do
most liberals, that the Second Amendment is not an individual's right. It is interesting
that liberals seem to think that the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments
to the Constitution, are all for individual rights with the exception of the Second
Amendment. Furthermore, it's absolutely astonishing that they can't grasp its
simple meaning, citizens have a right to keep and bear arms and this can not be
infringed.
The city argued that citizens can have arms just not hand guns.
However, looking at their ordinance, the other guns, such as rifles and shot guns
must be disassembled, locked and have the ammunition stored separately. So, there
was a virtual ban on self defense in Washington D.C.
While conservatives
breathed a collective sigh of relief, one should still be concerned. How is it
that four Supreme Court Justices could vote to take a way a God given right and
a US Constitutional protection of a legal citizen to defend themselves? The Constitution
doesn't give you rights. It gives you protection from the government infringing
on your God given rights.
Thank God for the five who have some brains, at
least on this issue. In no particular order:
Chief Justice John Roberts
Born
in 1955, this "boomer" was appointed by George W Bush.
Justice
Antonin Scalia
Born in 1936, Scalia was appointed by Ronald Reagan.
Justice
Samuel Alito
Born in 1950, Alito was appointed by George W Bush.
Justice
Anthony Kennedy
Born in 1936, Kennedy was appointed by Ronald Reagan.
Justice
Clarence Thomas
Born in 1948, Thomas was appointed by the senior George
Bush making up for his earlier mistake of appointing Souter.
Let's look
at the liberal four that tried to destroy America today:
Justice John
Paul Stevens
Born in 1920, Stevens was appointed by the unelected President
Gerald Ford in 1975.
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Born in 1933,
Ginsburg was appointed by Bill Clinton.
Justice Stephen Breyer
Born
in 1938, Breyer was also appointed by Bill Clinton. Thanks again, Bill. Some legacy.
Justice
David Souter
Born in 1939, Souter was appointed by the senior George Bush.
See what Republicans get when they try to cross the aisle and appease the democrats?
The
reaction from liberals has been swift and not unexpected. Washington D.C.'s Mayor
Fenty said that there will be blood in the streets. Mayor Fenty, there already
is blood in the streets of America's worst slum and it's your city, Washington
D.C.
San Francisco's US Senator Dianne Feinstein said, "I believe the
people of this great country will be less safe because of it." Senator, Washington
D.C. has had the strictest gun control in the nation for about 32 years and it
has continued to rank at the top for some of the worst crimes in the country.
By the way Senator, your own city of San
Francisco with its strict gun control has its highest violent crime rate in
10 years.
Chicago, another city with strict gun control similar to D.C.
also has an extremely high rate of crime. Their liberal mayor, Richard Daley,
said the court's ruling was "a very frightening decision." He predicted
greater violence if his city's law was overturned. Ah, Mr. Mayor, your Chicago
gun law was overturned, today. The NRA will be filing a lawsuit to force them
to repeal it. No doubt, Daly will spend tax payer money on a lost liberal cause.
Not to worry Mayor Daly, your city's murdered will still be voting for democrats
for years to come just as other dead people do.
Barack Obama, who last year
said he thought D.C.'s gun ban was constitutional, was doing a liberal tap dance
and backpedal today. He tried to sound like he agreed with the decision. He wasn't
really sure what to say as there was no teleprompter available.
