Twilight's Last Gleaming (TLG) intends to publish selected comments from both sides of the issues. We seem to receive mostly opinions that support the TLG perspective. That is getting boring!

Most of the liberal tripe we have received is not fit to print. TLG suspects that most liberals are unable to respond in a civil manner, as their arguments lack substance. If you have an opposing viewpoint or something to say, contact Twilight's Last Gleaming. If it is intelligent or at least entertaining, you probably will see it published here.

Defending Obama's policies:

"IN this economy I don't this its a bad thing that kids or college grads can stay on their parents insurance while they pay off school loans and search for work (Affordable Health Care Act). I don't have a problem with requiring people to carry health Care (since my $70 copay when I DO need Emergency Room care subsidizes the uninsured who use Public Hospital emergency rooms for primary care. My grand parents, my parents and I don't see Social Security as a 'Ponzy scheme' because the funds may run out before I can use the benefits. (why is the number of beneficiary a surprise unless ...the GOP/Tea bags couldn't do the math if they read a calendar in 1950 and figured who would be eligible now..).. I don't see the elderly, poor and disabled as 'special interest groups looking for entitlements... It will be interesting to see who's left standing in 2012. Look past the hysteria and talking heads giving opinions masked as news reporting ..."

Ben, your grammar and spelling are only outdone by your reasoning. The problem with "kids" staying on their parents' health insurance until they are halfway to middle age is they are not kids and the rest of us have to pay more for policies of young adults who rarely use health care. By the way, you will still be subsidizing those without insurance who use the emergency room. Health care costs have risen dramatically since Obama Care was passed and services have been lowered both in quantity and quality.

Moving onto Social Security, you already made our point. A Ponzi scheme is partially defined as running out of money before paying off those who invested; just like Social Security. Ben, it was the democrats who instituted Social Security, not the Republicans. Who is talking about the elderly and disabled as special interest groups? Entitlement programs are bankrupt because the benefits go to illegal aliens who don't pay their fair share and able-bodied citizens that would rather just have children and not work. The better question to ask is what are you lazy liberals going to do when there are no more conservatives working to pay your way?

Democrat hiding behind the Bible:

Joe, Firstly, we don't "preach GOP." We are not the "Christian Party;" neither is the GOP. Regardless, we follow the US Constitution; not the church or the GOP. However, we believe the rights we protect are God-given.

Now, onto your tirade of Romans 13. Specifically, Paul said, "Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake." Basically, that means you should know the difference between good and evil before you blindly obey someone in government.

If you believe we are all God's servants, do you believe that all serve God? Which God; Obama's Allah? You forget that only a few government leaders are Christians. Under your child-like interpretation of Romans, maybe you should be obeying Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

If you believe that those in government are appointed by God, why do we have elections? If you truly believe your version of Romans, would you have followed the likes of Hitler, Stalin or Mao? Our attacks on Obama, his policies and his minions are anything but mindless. Now, take your childish, literal interpretation of the Bible and go back to the DNC; from where you came. TLG

Defending the Indefensible:

What about when Dick Cheney conveniently changed his permanant[sic] address in early 2000 from Texas to Montana to CIRCUMVENT wording in the United States Constituion[sic] which states that the president and the vice-president cannont[sic] be from the same state? Sorry, J.O., the teacher decides when class has ended; not the student. No, Obama's birth certificate should be a public record, but he has sealed it and no one has seen it. As for Senator John McCain's birth certificate, he released the vault copy during the campaign. No, the US Supreme Court does not certify presidential elections. No, it was Al Gore who sued to steal the presidency after he lost. The case was appealed to the US Supreme Court and Gore lost, again. Also, don't forget that the votes were recounted numerous times and Bush was the victor each time. The US Constitution does not say that the President and Vice President can not be from the same state. Read 12th Amendment more closely. Thank you for playing the race card as all liberals do. Now, go back to English class. If you pass, you are assigned Civics 101. Don't feel too badly; for an Obama supporter, you're gifted. TLG

Defending Obama by Attacking Republicans:

Although, what you say is not true, you believe that an idiot, his father and an Alzheimer's victim were able to beat Carter, Dukakis, Gore and Kerry. It took Ross Perot splitting the conservative vote for Clinton to win twice with less than 50% of the vote. That means that the losers of the Clinton elections got more votes than Clinton. TLG never said Lee Baca was a democrat, TLG said he is a liberal. TLG also said, "...his liberal democrat nature..." and "Like most democrats..." Read more closely. Just because someone is registered as a Republican, doesn't mean they have the party's endorsement. Furthermore, Jane Harmon, DEMOCRAT, who is now the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee wants Baca to run Homeland Security. Lee Baca has endorsed many democrats for various offices. TLG
