California Liberals Think Global Warming Caused by Black
Colored Cars
The
California Air Resources Board (CARB) has decided that a major cause of global
warming, which isn't even happening, is caused by black colored cars. So, they
want to make dark colored vehicles illegal by 2012 in California; your state is
next.
Here is their "logic." Black cars get warmer inside than lighter
colored cars. Therefore, the drivers use the air conditioning more and that degrades
fuel economy and results in more so-called greenhouse gases being produced by
those cars.
Where to start debunking this garbage is difficult to say. It is
completely filled with false premises.
Well, let's start with their first assumption
that black cars get warmer interiors than lighter colored cars. This is false
because different cars have different amounts and types of insulation. Furthermore,
a car's interior gets hot mostly because of the sunlight that enters via its windows.
On a warm day, it doesn't matter what color the car is, it gets hot inside with
the windows closed because the air can't circulate and continues to warm.
As
for using the vehicle's air conditioning is concerned, on a hot day drivers with
air conditioning use it no matter what color the car is.
Regarding air conditioner
use and fuel economy, modern automobile air conditioners use very little extra
fuel to be powered as they don't put much of a load on the engine. However, driving
with the windows open and the air conditioner off makes the vehicle far less aerodynamic
and uses more fuel than driving with the air AC blasting and the windows closed.
Lastly,
so-called greenhouse gasses don't cause global warming. Besides, if they did,
blame volcanoes, not human activity. One volcanic eruption can release more of
these gasses than all of mankind has produced since the Industrial Revolution.
If
the CARB's lunacy is carried to its ultimate conclusion, California drivers should
be forced into cars with no tops and wear reflective helmets.
