Republican Traitor
Slits His Political Throat
Arlen
Specter, formerly a Pennsylvanian Republican US senator, announced his switch
to the democrat party. If you'll recall, Specter was one of three
Republican traitors that voted in the US senate to pass the largest spending
bill in history. Specter claimed that the Republican Party has moved too far to
the right. As usual, Specter lied. The fact is Specter went too far to the left in
voting for - without reading - the "Porkulus" spending bill.
The
democrats have been courting this spineless worm for years. The democrats now
have the potential of having a filibuster-proof senate vote. So, what? The democrats
never had to worry about a filibuster with Specter as a senator no matter what
party he claimed.
No, Specter didn't leave because the Republican Party is too
conservative. It's because polls show Republican Pat Toomey, who was going to
run against Specter in the next primary, held a 51 to 30 lead over Specter. So,
Specter is trying to cling to his political career. He thinks that he'll retain
his senate seat as a democrat.
Specter, a liberal, can't figure out that
his career is already finished. Toomey will still beat Specter, if they meet in the general
election, not the primary. Besides, there's little promise that Specter will survive
the democrat primary. The democrats are through with Specter. Look how they treated
Senator Joe Lieberman and Senator John McCain for reaching across party lines.
One
must wonder why Specter announced his coming out of the political closet now. Just
a couple of weeks ago, Specter said that he would remain a Republican because
he believes that the country needs a two-party system. The reason is that Obama
had requested a photo op of Air Force One
in a low-altitude fly-by of New York City. The surprise stunt caused a major
panic in the city. As Rahm
Emanuel said, "Never let a serious crisis go to waste." Obama had his people tell
Specter that it was now time to announce his switch.
Specter's switch to
the democrat party was good news for the Republicans. Now, there is absolutely
no way for the democrats to blame the Republicans for Obama's failure. Specter was/is a liar and
a liberal. Why would the Republicans want him as a member?
Basically, Specter
was being forced to resign with the Republican Party's backing of Toomey. Specter
could have ended his career on a high note by simply announcing that he would
not seek reelection. Instead, he will be remembered as Benedict Arlen. Good riddance.
